If you’re a digital marketing fresher and scared of losing your job… read this.
Recently, a fresher with 6 months experience called me.
His daily work?
- Sending old emails
- Designing posters on Canva
- Posting on Instagram
- No clear strategy
- No senior guidance
But expectation?
- Increase followers
- Grow the startup
- Show results fast
And he was afraid of termination.
Here’s the Reality
A fresher is not a growth expert.
You cannot expect someone with 6 months experience to:
- Build complete strategy
- Run ads profitably
- Scale a brand
- Handle marketing alone
Real marketing requires strategy + data.
And follower growth is not equal to business growth.
That level of understanding comes with experience.
“A fresher cannot replace strategy, experience, and structured marketing systems."
The Real Problem
Many startups:
- Hire freshers at low salary
- Avoid experienced marketers
- Expect quick growth
- Blame the fresher when results don’t come
Courses teach basics. But real company execution is completely different.
“Without a senior, a fresher is just experimenting blindly."
What a Fresher Should Actually Do?
First 1–2 years should be:
- Learning under a senior
- Understanding ad structure
- Learning analytics
- Supporting campaigns
- Observing strategy
Not carrying the company alone.
"Your first 1–2 years should focus on learning under mentorship, not handling everything alone. "
If You’re Terminated
Listen carefully.
It does NOT mean:
- You are not talented
- You chose the wrong field
- You failed
Sometimes the expectation was unrealistic.
“Termination early in your career is often a mismatch of expectations — not a measure of your capability.”
Final Advice
If you are the only digital marketer in a startup as a fresher — think twice.
Digital marketing is a long-term skill.
"Learn first. Earn next. Grow gradually. That’s the real path.. "
